Home for Work, Work for Play: Settings

Being your typical billionaire playboy, Ed is given to occasionally buying things.

Like houses, or other pieces of property.

That's what this thread is for: descriptions, pictures and the like.

Hope you enjoy it.

Property Name: Batten Manor
Address: DESTROYED
Acreage: 18.2 acres
Floors: 2 + basement
Square Footage: 6,712 sq. ft.
Bedrooms: 5 (plus one spare)
Bathrooms: 4 (plus two half-baths)

They say a man's home is his castle, and Batten Manor is a reflection on that. With just about everything a house can possibly have in it, 5 bedrooms, 4 full baths, 12'-14' vaulted ceilings, and the entire house monitored by the semi-autonomous AI Diana, Batten Manor is luxury defined.

Around the house, 18 acres of lawns, garden and forest - maintained by a small staff - rambles out and around the manor. Behind the house can be found a pool that has been carved out of naturally-occuring marble and set in the ground, while at the west side of the grounds can be found a basketball court.

The aboveground portion of the house, however, is only the figurative tip of the iceberg.

The really interesting stuff happens down in the basement.

With an office, lab, workspace, display area for completed projects, a bathroom and even a bar and a gym, the only reasons Ed would have to leave this area is to eat and (more comfortably) sleep. A fully automated production and assembly facility on the same level and biometrically controlled access ensure that the most private of his projects stay that way.

Property Name: Batten Tower
Address: 5813 Baxter Place, Old Market District, Rhy'Din
Management Office: Jessica Leigh, Office Manager, Ste. 1205

Designed by the CEO of Batten Industries himself, Batten Tower is a completely self-sufficient, ecologically friendly building which uses no power at all from the local grid, instead relying on many of the alternative energy technologies developed by Edward Batten, and is completely overseen and monitored by D.I.A.N.A., the artificial intelligence he created. A full three hundred twenty feet tall and consisting of thirty-one stories (not including the basement levels), Batten Tower contains within its twisting, sculpted exterior all of the below divisions of Batten Industries in Rhy'din.

Batten Industries Local Corporate Offices: The corporate, business, and administrative offices of the Rhy'din branch of Batten Industries are nearly all housed on the upper floors of the Tower, with the exception of the Human Resources division, which is on the southern side of the first and second floors of the building.

Batten Industries Security Division: Offices for Batten Security, a division of Batten Industries, as well as headquarters for security personnel, are located just above the HR department, taking up three floors. Training facilities are also located on these levels.

Batten Industries Engineering and Development: This division, in essence the 'think tank', is the one responsible for prototype designs and systems for Batten Industries, and is located just below the main corporate offices, taking up several floors. Any further information is confidential.

Batten Industries Performance and Testing: The next logical step in the line from Engineering and Development, this department is where new designs are tested in a controlled, safe environment. The facilities are located in the basement levels of the Tower, which is triple-reinforced and capable of being completely sealed off for safety purposes to keep any dangerous mishaps contained within its levels.

Batten Industries Fabrication and Repair: The manufacturing facilities for both new and existing designs, as well as repair shops for damaged goods and machinery, are located near the middle of the building's many levels. These floors are all 'clean' levels to maintain Batten Industries' exceptional level of quality manufacturing.

Batten Industries Storage and Inventory: Storage for manufactured items awaiting shipment orders, this area is located on the first and second sublevels of the Tower and doubles as a 'buffer zone' to help keep any potentially hazardous conditions contained to the Performance and Testing facilities below it, should they occur.

Batten Industries Shipping/Receiving: Shipping/Receiving offices and loading docks for Batten Industries, housed on the first floor of the Tower on the eastern side.

Edward Batten's Penthouse: The top three levels of Batten Tower are reserved for the CEO's personal residence and offices. The majority of Ed's time is spent here, where he can work in luxurious comfort.

Asile-aux-Falaises
« Reply #4 on: December 03, 2013, 03:58:15 PM »
Property Name: Asile-aux-Falaises
Address: 1007 Mountain Ln., Old Rhy'din
Acreage: 23.6 acres
Floors: 2
Square Footage: 4,111 sq. ft.
Bedrooms: 4
Bathrooms: 3 (plus 2 half-baths)

If Batten Manor is a castle, Asile-aux-Falaises (Haven-at-the-Cliffs) is an escape. Located on a clifftop next to the old Rhy'din castle, the Asile is where Ed goes on those rare occasions he has to get away from it all. This, however, is not very often, and so whenever he won't be using it in the forseeable future he'll allow others to use the house for weekends, vacations, parties, weddings, and the like.

The estate is walled, green lawns, gardens and trees all well-maintained by an expert landscaping crew, overlooking Rhy'din Bay with a picturesque view of the water and the lighthouse on Spitnjur Ey.

Like the Manor, the Asile is monitored by Diana, Ed's semi-autonomous AI. Environmental controls, from the heat and air to the lights to the television, can be controlled by voice commands or plasma touch-panels throughout the house, just as they can at the Manor.

Batten Tower - Penthouse
« Reply #5 on: December 03, 2013, 05:32:19 PM »
Property Name: Batten Tower - Penthouse Level
Address: 5813 Baxter Place, Old Market District, Rhy'Din
Acreage: N/A
Floors: 3
Square Footage: 5,312 sq. ft.
Bedrooms: 3
Bathrooms: 3 (plus 2 half-baths)

Serving as the primary residence of the CEO of Batten Industries, the penthouse level of Batten Tower is only accessible from the roof of the Tower, or via a single private elevator which is only capable of being accessed by, or with the permission of, Batten himself.

With an open, spacious floor plan and designed to capitalize on the viewpoint of being at the top of a three hundred foot tall Tower, the private residence of Edward Batten is tastefully modern and luxurious in its appointments, and yet there is no doubt that he kept comfort in mind when he had it all put together.

The penthouse's systems also interface with the rest of the Tower, allowing Batten to monitor the entire building and the whole of his city-wide network, even to work and communicate with his employees without ever having to leave it, save for perhaps social interaction.
