No Roots - Alice Merton

[Intro]
I like digging holes and, hiding things inside them
When I grow old, I hope I won't forget to find them
Cause, I've got memories and travel like gypsies in the night

[Verse 1]
I build a home and wait for, someone to tear it down
Then pack it up in boxes, head for the next town running
Cause, I've got memories and travel like gypsies in the night

[Pre-Chorus]
And a thousand times I've seen this road
A thousand times

[Chorus]
I've got no roots
But my home, was never on the ground
I've got no roots
But my home, was never on the ground
I've got no roots
I've got no roots
I've got no roots
But my home, was never on the ground
I've got no roots
But my home, was never on the ground
I've got no roots
I've got no roots

[Verse 2]
I like standing still, but that's just a wishful plan
Ask me where I come from, I'll say a different land
But I've got memories and, travel like gypsies in the night

[Verse 3]
I count gates and numbers, then play the guessing game
It's just the place that changes, the rest is still the same
But I've got memories and, travel like gypsies in the night

[Pre-Chorus]
And a thousand times I've seen this road
A thousand times

[Chorus]
I've got no roots
But my home, was never on the ground
I've got no roots
But my home, was never on the ground
I've got no roots
I've got no roots
I've got no roots
But my home, was never on the ground
I've got no roots
But my home, was never on the ground
I've got no roots
I've got no roots

[Bridge]
I like digging holes, hiding things inside them
When I grow old, I won't forget to find them
I like digging holes, hiding things inside them
When I grow old, I won't forget to find them

[Outro]
I've got no roots!
No roots!

I've got no roots
But my home, was never on the ground
I've got no roots
But my home, was never on the ground
I've got no roots
I've got no roots
I've got no roots
But my home, was never on the ground
I've got no roots
But my home, was never on the ground
I've got no roots
I've got no roots

No!

"Leave A Light On"
by Tom Walker
https://youtu.be/nqnkBdExjws

The second someone mentioned you were all alone
I could feel the trouble coursing through your veins
Now I know, it's got a hold
Just a phone called left unanswered, had me sparking up
These cigarettes won't stop me wondering where you are
Don't let go, keep a hold

If you look into the distance, there's a house upon the hill
Guiding like a lighthouse to a place where you'll be
Safe to feel at grace 'cause we've all made mistakes
If you've lost your way...

I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on

Tell me what's been happening, what's been on your mind
Lately you've been searching for a darker place
To hide, that's alright
But if you carry on abusing, you'll be robbed from us
I refuse to lose another friend to drugs
Just come home, don't let go

If you look into the distance, there's a house upon the hill
Guiding like a lighthouse to a place where you'll be
Safe to feel at grace 'cause we've all made mistakes
If you've lost your way...

I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on

If you look into the distance, there's a house upon the hill
Guiding like a lighthouse, it's a place where you'll be
Safe to feel at grace and if you've lost your way
If you've lost your way (I will leave the light on)
And I know you don't know oh, but I need you to be brave
Hiding from the truth ain't gonna make this all okay
I'll see your pain if you don't feel our grace
And you've lost your way
I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on
'Cause I will leave the light on

"Mouth for War"
by Pantera
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3JSbOt7CLo

Revenge, I'm screaming revenge again
Wrong, I've been wrong for far too long
Been constantly so frustrated
I've moved mountains with less
When I channel my hate to productive
I don't find it hard to impress

Bones in traction
Hands break to hone raw energy
Bold and disastrous
My ears can't hear what you say to me

Hold your mouth for the war
Use it for what it's for
Speak the truth about me
Determined

Possessed, I feel a conquering will down inside me
Strength, the strength of many to crush who might stop me
My strength is in number
And my soul lies in every one
The releasing of anger can better any medicine under the sun

Bones in traction
Hands break to hone raw energy
Bold and disastrous
My ears can't hear what you say to me

Hold your mouth for the war
Use it for what it's for
Speak the truth about me
Determined

There comes a time within everyone
To close your eyes to what's real

No comprehension to fail
I vacuum the wind for my sail
Can't be the rest
Let others waste my time
Owning success is the bottom line
Like a knife into flesh
After life is to death
Pulling and punching the rest of duration
No one can piss on this determination

Don't Change
by INXS
https://youtu.be/sLm3Khusq_8

I'm standing here on the ground
The sky above won't fall down
See no evil in all direction
Resolution of happiness
Things have been dark
For too long

Don't change for you
Don't change a thing for me

I found a love I had lost
It was gone for too long
Hear no evil in all directions
Execution of bitterness
Message received loud and clear

Don't change for you
Don't change a thing for me

I'm standing here on the ground
The sky above won't fall down
See no evil in all directions
Resolution of happiness
Things have been dark for too long

Don't change for you
Don't change a thing for me

Ahhh, the eighties hair! Crazy but in those days that was thought to be cool. I never did the big bow hair.

This was a group my sister introduced me to. That was a rare thing as from a early age I discovered many bands and passed on my love of music by sharing it (Forcing it to the minds of some) with others.

My sister took me to see this band on the "Riverboat". They were AWESOME! They are a group that does bring back memories of dancing with friends at "Deja Vu" and "Oz" many a night. My sister let me tag along and even though I wasn't legal for some places.(She knew the owners of these clubs.) It was the music that was always my siren's call and not underage drinking. Still is but I can find anything now on the internet. Yes, I still have a need to feed that addiction!

Home
by Marc Broussard
https://youtu.be/FuWPseegaKw

Rolling down the road
Going no where
Guitar packed in the trunk
Somewhere round mile marker 112
Papa started hummin the funk
I gotta jones in my bones before we know
We were singing this melody
Stop the car pulled out the guitar
Halfway to New Orleans

Said take me home
Take me home

Could feel the sun about to rise
When I realized we had nothing to fear
It's just me and my daddy and a kid named Cope
Making music that nobody would hear
And then the sun let up and it split the night
Spilling over our jubilee
Ten thousand cars by the side of the road
Grooving far as the eye can see

Said take me home
Take me home
Said take me home
Said take me home

This greyhound is delta bound mama
Baby boy done finally found
Said this greyhound is delta bound mama
Baby boy done finally found his way home
Said take me home

Hot damn you should have felt the groove
Like I was swimming in a sea of soul
The sun was rising and the day was hot
And we was all about to lose control
My daddy turned his face up towards the sky
And I knew that there was nothing to lose
I felt the crowd breathe in and I closed my eyes
And we disappeared into the groove

Said take me home
Said take me home
Take me home
Said take me home

Straight from the water
Straight from the water children

You don't know nothing about this

Take me home
Said take me home

Ain't That a Kick in the Head
by Dean Martin
https://youtu.be/97AxmxMnYXo

How lucky can one guy be
I kissed her and she kissed me
Like the fella once said
Ain't that a kick in the head?

The room was completely black
I hugged her and she hugged back
Like the sailor said, quote
"Ain't that a hole in the boat"

My head keeps spinning
I go to sleep and keep grinning
If this is just the beginning
My life is gonna be beautiful

I've sunshine enough to spread
It's just like the fella said
Tell me quick ain't love like a kick in the head?

Like the fella once said
Ain't love like a kick in the head?

Like the sailor said, quote
"Ain't that a hole in the boat?"

My head keeps spinning
I go to sleep and keep grinning
If this is just the beginning
My life is gonna be beautiful

"We Have It All"
by Pim Stones
https://youtu.be/IRJBu5F88ew

There was fire around us so I should have known why
The touch of his hands were as cold as his eyes
So don't you tell me we weren't hypnotised

The print was so small I didn't understand
He cut our thumbs and placed a feather in our hands
Told us we would see all our dreams and plans unfold

Our hearts we have sold
For diamonds and gold
But hey, baby, take a look
We have it all

All my life I've been heading for hell
But never had I thought I'd drag you down as well
I just couldn't resist what he was trying to sell

There's glory ahead but our love will be forgotten
If my heart was still mine I would go to the bottom
And apologise to you until the day it went rotten

But haven't you heard
Hearts turn to dirt
Along with the rest of your body
It's all claimed by the earth

It will fade and it will wither
But gold, it will never
And hey, baby, don't you know
Diamonds are forever

Hear me
Can you hear me
I am calling out to you for the last time

Our hearts we have sold
For diamonds and gold
But hey, baby, take a look
We have it all

And haven't you heard
Hearts turn to dirt
Along with the rest of your body
It's all claimed by the earth

Hear me
Can you hear me
I am begging from you for the last time

Hear me
Please forgive me
I am calling out to you for the last time

Happy Halloween my darlin's! Now, with the end of All Hallows, we welcome in the start of the Day of the Dead Celebrations for some, All Saints Day for others and lastly everything comes to an end with All Souls day. A time of memory for all those that have come before us. Peace to all and may your long lost loved ones bless you.

Living Dead Girl
By Rob Zombie

https://youtu.be/BvsMPOfblfg

"Who is this irresistible creature who has an insatiable love for the dead?"

Living Dead Girl!

"What are you thinking about?
What are you thinking about?"
"The same thing you are"

Rage in the cage
And piss upon the stage
There's only one sure way
To bring the giant down
Defunct the strings
Of cemetery things
With one flat foot
On the devil's wing

Crawl on me
Sink into me
Die for me
Living Dead Girl
Crawl on me
Sink into me
Die for me
Living Dead Girl

"What are you thinking about?
What are you thinking about?"
"The same thing you are"

Raping the geek
And hustling the freak
Like a hunchback juice
On a sentimental noose
Operation filth
They love to love the wealth
Of an SS whore
Making scary sounds

Crawl on me
Sink into me
Die for me
Living Dead Girl
Crawl on me
Sink into me
Die for me
Living Dead Girl

"What are you thinking about?"

Psyclone jack
Hallucinating hack
Thinks that Donna Reed
Eats dollar bills
Goldfoot's machine
Creates another fiend
So beautiful
They make you kill

Crawl on me
Sink into me
Die for me
Living Dead Girl
Crawl on me
Sink into me
Die for me
Living Dead Girl

Blood on her skin
Dripping with sin
Do it again
Living Dead Girl
Blood on her skin
Dripping with sin
Do it again
Living Dead Girl

With the haunting notes of "Dead Can Dance" fading gently, her smooth voice was woven all through the soft instrumental music. The words flowing with a contemplative note that echoed the melody playing behind them.

"Music for me is all about memories. Be they old or new, it can draw forth from our souls the sweet and the bitter recollection of days gone bye. A long forgotten dance, Broken hearts, or the fleeting joy of love's warm embrace. That being said, those listening perhaps can find additional memories, reminders of passion, and recaptured youth in this sound track of life."

Have a listen to Poets of the Fall's "Carnival of Rust". I am sure there are some out there who will be able to identify with this tune."

Canival of Rust
by Poets of the Fall
https://youtu.be/MKk1u5RMTn4

To breathe the name
Of your savior
In your hour of need
And taste the blame
If the flavor should remind you of greed
Of implication, insinuation and you will
Till you cannot lie still
In all this turmoil, before red cave and foil
Come closing in for a kill

Come feed the rain
'Cause I'm thirsty for your love
Dancing underneath the skies of lust
Yeah feed the rain
'Cause without your love, my life
Ain't nothing but this carnival of rust

It's all a game
Avoiding failure
When true colors will bleed
All in the name
Of misbehavior
And the things we don't need

I lust for after no disaster can touch
Touch us anymore
And more than ever, w hope to never fall
Where enough is not the same it was before

Come feed the rain
'Cause I'm thirsty for your love
Dancing underneath the skies of lust
Yeah feed the rain
'Cause without your love, my life
Ain't nothing but this carnival of rust

Yeah feed the rain
'Cause I'm thirsty for your love,
Dancing underneath the skies of lust
Yeah, feed the rain
'Cause without your love, my life
Ain't nothing but this carnival of rust

Don't walk away, don't walk away
Ooh, when the world is burning
Don't walk away, don't walk away
Ooh, when the heart is yearning
Don't walk away, don't walk away
Ooh, when the world is burning
Don't walk away, don't walk away
Ooh, when the heart is yearning

Coventry Carol
By Nox Arcana

https://youtu.be/CculoR20LnY

Lullay, thou little tiny child
Sleep well, lullay, lullay
And smile while dreaming, little one
Sleep well, lullay, lullay
Fair well, lullay, lullay

O sisters, too, what may we do
To preserve on this day;
This poor youngling for whom we sing?
Sleep well, lullay, lullay
Fair well, lullay, lullay

Herod the king, in his raging
Set forth upon this day;
By his decree, no lives spare he
All children young, to slay
All children young, to slay

Then woe is me, poor child, for thee
And ever mourn and say;
For thy parting, neither say nor sing
Fair well, lullay, lullay
Fair well, lullay, lullay

And when the stars fill darken skies
In their far vetchers stay;
And smile as dreaming, little one
Fair well, lullay, lullay
Dream now, lullay, lullay

A newer group with an old goth vibe. Reminiscent of classic Sisters of Mercy. Enjoy!

Promised Land
by Cold Cave
https://youtu.be/BQtAKJa5kvs

There's no resting for the wicked
Imagine how tired I am
I prayed for warmth and peace, but some winters never end
In California burning, old haunts and a new romance
In life we love, in death we dance

I get a little too high
I get a little too low
Take my hand to the promised land.

I wanna make your dreams come true,
I wanna make your darkest dreams come true
Cherry kisses on the lips,
All gold grows under your rainbow
Can I just spend my life buried alive inside of you?
In life we love, in death we dance
In life we love, in death we dance
I get a little too high
I get a little too low
Take my hand to the promised land.

It's a long long long way to go
It's a cold cold cold road alone
It's a long long long way to go
It's a cold cold cold road alone
Blue days, black nights
Purple haze, white lights
Blue days, black nights
Purple haze, white lights

It's a long long long way to go
It's a cold cold cold road alone
It's a long long long way to go
It's a cold cold cold road alone

The Dreaming is a group founded by the lead singer for Stabbing Westward, Christopher Hall. Recently, Stabbing Westward has released some new material, so rumors of their demise has been apparently exaggerated.

"Alone"
by The Dreaming
https://youtu.be/FvIHBlVKGd4

Alone

I know that you're lonely
I can see it written in your eyes
Behind your crooked smile
Lives a fear you can no longer hide
You've built an ivory tower
Locked the door and threw away the key
Hiding in the shadows
Thinking that the world's your enemy

The world's an ugly place when you're alone
But you don't have to face it on your own
You don't need to hide
Locked away inside
You're not alone

You tried to live among them
Pretending you were just another sheep
But they treat you like an alien
Sensing that you're different underneath
So you made your life a fortress
Built a wall around your broken heart
But now the walls are crumbling
The isolation's tearing you apart

The world's an ugly place when you're alone
But you don't have to face it on your own
You don't need to hide
Locked away inside
You're not alone

Locked in solitary
Unaware you've always held the key
For you designed this prison
And no one else can ever set you free

The world's an ugly place when you're alone
But you don't have to face it on your own
You don't need to hide
Just let me inside
You're not alone
You're not alone
You're not alone
"The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?"
