Trials of a Young Dragon / Re: Enjoying a peaceful day
« on: June 08, 2018, 01:15:07 AM »
*With his mate gone from bed, he couldn't stay asleep, and yawned and stretched.  He knew where his mate was, of course.  Her favorite resting spot.  He made his way through the falls and up to her perch, looking out over their territory.*  "Such a lovely view.....No matter how many times I see it, I can never fail to be awed by such a lovely sight."

Trials of a Young Dragon / Where have all the dragons gone?
« on: March 17, 2017, 09:36:41 AM »
*It had been some time since any of the Shimmerscales had been seen anywhere at all in Rhydin.  They were remaining sequestered in the lair, away from the general populace, though the reason why was unknown.  The only way that anyone would know that the Shimmerscale clan was still in residence were the ever vigilant guards posted around the entrance to the lair.*

Trials of a Young Dragon / Re: Sequestered from the Summer heat
« on: July 07, 2016, 02:15:23 PM »
*This was always the worst time of the year for his mate.  Being an Ice Dragoness, the heat and humidity forced her deep into the lair. He joined her at night at the glacial pool.  He brought with him a special treat, fruit pulp and juice frozen into a juicy treat in a plastic tube.  He brought several of these with his, settling at the poolside.*

"I brought you a few more, love.  Blueberry, Raspberry, Stawberry, and Orange."  *He worried over her so, and he couldn't stop the heat, so he fretted often.*

Trials of a Young Dragon / Re: Signs of Spring
« on: March 20, 2016, 02:39:07 PM »
*Papa was starting to get more energy as the winter came to a close.  Aurthur's wings twitched in anticipation to fly the spring winds.

And roses.  Oh, how he looked forward to tending his roses again.*

Trials of a Young Dragon / Re: Valentine's day
« on: February 15, 2016, 12:39:05 PM »
*Big blue had been up for some time already, in the kitchen, of course.  He knew it was cheesy, but he had taken the time to cut his mate's favorite meats and cheeses into hearts before cooking them and letting them cool to a temperature for her safe to eat.

To this tray of meats and cheeses were also added sweets.  Little ginger cookie hearts with sprinkles, or some with frosting, or some with both!  He also brought some mugs and a container of some nice cider that he had acquired in town.

He smiled as he turned into the library, seeing the flower decorating his mate had done.*  "Happy Valentine's day my love."  *Everything he had brought was then carefully arranged on the table, and his mate was given a tender Valentine's Day kiss.*

Trials of a Young Dragon / Re: Readying for the holidays
« on: December 24, 2015, 04:08:09 PM »
*There had been much bickering between Aurthur and Chef over the menu that would be served to the family in the days before the holiday, while the children helped to decorate the lair.  But now that the holiday was so close, the bickering ceased, and the cooking was taking place at a fast clip.

The feasting chamber (for lack of a better name for it) was being set with places for every Shimmerscale family member and friend who would be in attendance.  There was also a special area set for others who had no place to go for the Holidays.

The children would all be spoiled, of course, allowed to open one small gift of their choosing before the meal, and they would have plenty to choose from!  One could barely see the tree they had set up in the chamber, with all of the presents under and around it.

At last, all the food was done, and everyone settled at the tables, for it was time to eat, and Aurthur stood to address the family.*

"A Merry Dracamas Eve to you, my dearest friends and family!  I'm am thankful that you are all able to join us here on this happiest of holidays.  Our family has been through much this year, and i've no doubts that it will go through much next year.  But for the moment, let us feast, and make joyous memories together that we shall all remember for years to come."

Trials of a Young Dragon / Picking Up The Pieces
« on: November 14, 2015, 12:50:22 PM »
*It was good to be home.  He always enjoyed being at home with his family, his mate, his children.  There was nowhere else he would rather be.

But he hadn't been home, for a long time.  That's what he'd been told one day, when he woke from his nap.  He had been sore, sure, but that happens sometimes when one sleeps.  But walking into the Red dragon Inn that night, he came to see his mate suddenly much thinner than she had ever been, and looking sickly and weak.  The surprise on the look of his friend Andu, as thought the minotaur had seen a ghost.

They told him he had been dead for weeks, gone completely.  He couldn't remember anything other than falling asleep one day for a nap, as he often did.  There were many things that he had missed, events that had passed while he had been gone.  It gave him a deep anxiety, and he thought about it all the time.  What exactly had happened to him?  Who did it to him?  Would they try again?

He wanted to ask someone about everything that had transpired, but he feared hearing it, and that added to his anxiety.

But he did his best to push it aside, to move forward.  He had his family to think about, and his mate still hadn't gained enough weight back yet, but things were improving.

It was good to be home.......

*Over the intervening days, he had gained some strength back.  To use his voice speech anyways.  He saw her, every time she opened the sarcophagus, and his hatred and rage boiled every time.  But what was he to do?*

<I WAS special, to a lot of people, until you took me away from them.  I hope you are satisfied, and can live with yourself, while they grieve for me!>

*Soon wasn't soon enough.  He wasn't in any physical pain, but the worst pain for one to endure wasn't usually physical.  And there wasn't anything he could do.  His magic was weak on his strongest day, it certainly wouldn't keep him alive if he managed to escape......So, in his sarcophagus he would stay, until h was let out again, for who knew what end.*

*He couldn't be upset about his stolen organs being used to help children.  He always tried to help children, he would just liked to have been asked first.  With her spell, he could see the letter as she read it, as well as hearing her speak the words.

Time.....Plenty of time, she said.  How could he have plenty of time?  He was a living mummy, which was ridiculous.  If her spell faltered, even for a second, he would die in an instant, gasping for breath that there were no lungs to produce.

A shiver would have went up his spine, if he could have moved.  Why hadn't his mate come?  Why hadn't anyone come to help him?  Surely he was missed at this point, he never stayed gone so long without leaving word....Despair filled him, and with all his organs missing, there was plenty of space to fill.  He was beginning to think he would never see his family again.....  He'd never see his mate, nor his children, nor his friends again.  He mustered up as much power as he could to send her a single message using his thought speech.*

<Just.....Kill.....Me......>

*He had always thought he had known what the expression 'feeling empty inside' meant.  Now, Aurthur REALLY knew what it meant to be empty inside.  Turned into a hatchling and having all of his organs removed, mummified alive.

He heard the voice of the woman who had done this to him.  He felt anger, but as quickly as it washed over him, it departed, like a receding wave.  What good was anger?  He was mummified, held on this plane by the females dark magic.

He couldn't speak, mummified as he was, nor could he see.  But he could hear, and when she asked her question, he nodded his head meekly.  Yes, he could hear her, though he wished he couldn't.*

*He returned the nuzzle, and nodded his head.*  Yes, my dear, you need a good meal in you, you are so thin.  You barely picked at the food I left for you while you were....While you were sick.

*He gave her a gentle nudge, following her through the winding halls, towards their kitchen.*  I would cook for you myself, dear, but it would take too long, and you are in urgent need of a meal, though I think for safety's sake, we should start with something light.  Too rich of a meal, and you may sick it back up.

*Waking from a light, troubled sleep when he was nuzzled, he stared at his mate for a moment, then got up and nuzzled her, practically encircling her with his body.  He would have pounced her, had he the energy, but as it was, he had none in his weakened state.  His vision was blurred with tears, and he somehow kept them from spilling from his eyes.*

My love, I missed you so, I was so worried......I didn't know what to do.....

*Aurthur lay outside his mate's sick chamber.  For a while, he was looking better, thanks to Andu and his mate.  But now, after another few weeks went by, Aurthur looked as badly as he did before.  There was no doubt about it.  If Icer did not exit from her sick room, Aurthur was not going to leave the hallway.

Both dragons, connected as they were by their spiritual link, would die as they were.*

*His mate awakened at the one time Aurthur wasn't sleeping outside the door.  He had made lunch, and was doing his rounds, checking in on the children, some of whom were also ill from the late chill that had come on after the warmer weather.*
