Thanks to the now prolific selection of children and stay-at-home parents on the Grove, Caroline nudged Humphrey into having a playground and treehouse built somewhere central to all the houses, so those parents can get out of the house sometimes!

RDI Playables / Safe Havens Declared

An address by Caroline Granger, CEO of GrangerGuild Conglomerate, has been printed in many newspapers and magazines, as well as broadcast on radio and television.

Quote
I am calling on community leaders and business owners in Rhy'Din City and the surrounding area to join me in declaring safe havens.

What is a safe haven? A place any citizen, regardless of race or religious belief, may enter in safety and be welcomed. A place where violence of any kind is not tolerated, and will be dealt with swiftly and efficiently, without recourse to answering violence with violence. A place where citizens can claim sanctuary from violence perpetrated against them until such a time as they can be safely returned to their homes, or wherever they choose to go, without the risk of further violence against their persons.

An address by Caroline Granger, CEO of GrangerGuild Conglomerate, has been printed in many newspapers and magazines, as well as broadcast on radio and television.

Quote
"As you are all aware, there has been a spike in violence across the city in recent months, mostly centered around the protests. It has become increasingly obvious that a small percentage of these protesters, and those who come into contact with them, consider these encounters an excuse to propagate violence for its own ends. These encounters have endangered not only those who choose to engage in them, but innocents who have no wish to be involved, including our children. As Johnny Storm noted, those who propagate this violence are in the minority, and we owe it not only to ourselves, but to our children to make the world in which they live a place where they need not live in fear because of some perceived difference. I am calling on community leaders and business owners in Rhy'Din City and the surrounding area to join me in declaring safe havens.

I am declaring all GrangerGuild properties safe havens for this purpose - all warehouses, docks, places of business, and Maple Grove itself will be safe havens for all citizens. GrangerGuild security will be present at all these locations. Anyone engaging in hate speech or violence will be ejected from these premises and banned from ever entering again.

I call upon community leaders and business owners in Rhy'Din City and the surrounding area to join me in declaring their own interests as safe havens. If you have need of it, GrangerGuild can supply security teams to ensure your declaration is upheld, and I am certain others will offer their own security measures.

I have faith in this city and its people to stand united against anyone who seeks to divide us. Our strength comes from the very differences that some would have you believe are dangerous and oppressive. Rhy'Din has always embraced peoples of every race and culture, and welcomed their involvement in the commercial and social life of our city. It would be a tragic shame if the recent rise in violence were to end what is, I believe, the best part of Rhy'Din.

Thank you."

All business and property owners are welcome to post here, to create a list of these safe havens so we're all aware of where is safe and where isn't. Feel free to add which security measures your business/property will be employing.Cheers, folks!))

Never one to resist a good cause - especially when her grandfather needed a date, because his lady friend was going to be busy for most of the evening anyway - Caroline stepped up to represent GrangerGuild at the forefront of donations toward the renovation and improvement of the Seven Towers Orphanage. With Old Man Granger on her arm, they made a surprisingly entertaining pair, making an effort not to be intimidating for once.

Enter the Gloomy Grove on All Hallow's Eve ...

Follow the trail of lights to Maple Grove Manor where, upon the stroke of 7pm RST, a gruesome gathering of demons in disguise will take to the spooky paths of the Grove itself, to haunt the inhabitants of the Granger estate. Will they trick, or will they treat? Only time will tell ...

The message went out across Rhy'Din, aimed at those who have small children who might want to trick or treat but whose parents might not feel comfortable with them doing so in the heart of the city. Humphrey Granger and his family are throwing open the gates of Maple Grove to invite hordes of trick or treaters to delight the inhabitants of the Grove with their costumes, creepy or otherwise. Candy is guaranteed, and maybe even a few tricks.

Parents are welcome to remain - adult members of the Granger clan will be accompanying the various bands of children into the grounds before returning them to the manor to be collected. If necessary, transport will be laid on to and from the city.

So enter the Gloomy Grove, and be prepared to cackle!

Group leaders -
Caroline Granger
Kaylee Bennett
Dominic Granger
Fiona O'Neill

Any Grangers who want to volunteer themselves as leading a trick or treating party, let me know, and I'll add your name to the list! Happy Halloween, folks!))

May 2015 RSC
Shrine to the Mother; North of RhyDin City
RhyDin

The Granger family could boast an impressive array of mothers and daughters these days - Caroline and Tessa; Miranda, Bethany, and Evelyn; Brynne and Lila; Vicki and Emily; Piper and Lyneth. Even their friends - Shen Lei, her unborn daughter kicking in her womb; Liv, Fliss, and little Maria Storm; Mataya and Juno De Luca; Elle and Daisy Marlowe.

Together, the merry group made their way to the shrine, little hands holding bigger hands, to lay together their collection of boughs and bouquets, gathered and created from the gardens of Maple Grove over the course of the morning. Little hands laid down the specially made offerings at the foot of the tree, whispering and giggling, waiting patiently for the women in their group to make their own silent offerings to the Mother.

The Botanical Garden

And then to the picnic, and the silliness that revived them after the solemnity of the shrine. Though some slipped away, there were plenty of Grangers there to join in the fun, from the Butterfly Garden to the Maypole, to the carousel and the volleyball court.

And predictably enough, Lyneth called some of her fairy friends to join in the fun - invisible to the adults who might not yet have been introduced to the living world all around them. Where the little half-Fae was, there were always fairies, and where there were fairies, there was always mischief to entertain little hearts and minds while mothers and cousins mingled on the green, sunswept grass.

The Rhy'Din Small Business Relief Fund

The RSBF will be operating a stall at the street fair, to raise awareness of their presence, and to offer advice to any small business owners who may be experiencing financial difficulties due to the fluid nature of Rhy'Din's Marketplace. Experts will be on hand to offer advice, and to help anyone through the process of applying for a one-off grant, or loan.

RhyDin Election / Re: OOC Thread

[quote:f6e34b5ae3="Amaltea"]But I still think the Governor is not an authority figure. The Governor is a rock star, a PR person. Nothing more than that.
This. It's good to hear from the people who originally set up the Governor SL - G, in particular, since it was his baby to start with. But I am with Amaltea on this.

Somehow we've got bogged down in an assumption that the Governor has power and can affect things, that somehow the Governor has some form of control over the running and working of Rhy'Din. I think we should get back to basics. The Governor is just a front, a figurehead, and has no power, essentially. If the SL is to continue, I think this should be made clear right from the start. Just my opinion, though.

I'd also mention that there seems to be a focus on how much work you have to put in to be a successful Governor. And there's the kill-word - work. There is no set way to play the Governor's role - you can do as much with it, or as little with it, as you personally would like and can manage. The problem seems to be the assumption by a large section of the community that the Governor should do this, or should do that. Doesn't that kind of step on the toes of the whole point of FFRP? You can't elect someone into a position they've volunteered for, and then tell them how they should be playing it. It's crass discourtesy, and frankly, I'm not surprised that it appears to have given the Governorship the kiss of death. Who wants to try and expand their RP, only to be told by multiple people that they're not doing it right, because they're not doing it the way the last Governor did?

Anywho, that's my two-penn'th. Continue with the scheduled discussion.
