Trials of a Young Dragon / Gifts for momma
« on: May 09, 2011, 12:51:10 AM »
It was mother's Day. The young dragon had not forgotten. Talking to her brothers and sisters, they all had descided to add up little bits of their own started hoards to get momma a present.

It had taken a few days, but she had finally managed to talk aunty Storm into taking her into the marketplace.

Sticking close to her aunt, she carried each brother and sisters contribution in a small pouch.

Now it was just figuring out what to get momma. Momma had stayed home at the lair, and watched over herself and her brothers and sisters.

Maybe a new book? She looked through tables of assorted crystals also, but momma had so many of those already.. And they just sat there, decorating the lair.

Further down the tables were a few gardening decorations. Her mother had taken pride of course in the gardens that were springing up around the lair.

Not knowing what kind of flowers to get, she would have to settle for something else.

The little dragonling was soon growing discouraged, slumping to the ground beside her aunt.

There had to be something.., anything. Finally something had caught her attention.

Sparkly and almost seeming to be pieced together, the little dragon found the perfect gift.

She was sure momma didn't have one of these..

The perfect gift? A gazing ball of course!

She needed a couple other gifts. Looking back through the tables, she came upon a windchime as well. Surely the sounds it would make would help momma to relax.

Finally as a last minute thought, from herself, momma would get a brand new flower book.

12/3/10 I went to the Inn last night and Audrey gave me donuts. I may have eatten a few more than I should have, though I did not get a stomach ache like Petyr said I might.

Grandma led me then to the soaking pool so I could get the rest of the white stuff out of my scales, the waterfall helped too.

Grandpa was moving around, checking up on my brothers and sisters. Grandma stayed close by to make sure I was alright.

There was a pause as Harold held his hand out. "Pleasure" softly spoken.
A glance back to Drake, before moving closer to the pair.

She was still wary, but still, snuggles and even hugs would be welcomed, it had been so long.

The little blue and yellow had been shuffling about the lair, helping out where she could with her brothers and sisters.

Upon taking a break, she had discovered her mother's journal. blue eyes peeked at the pages within, reading quietly, faint traces of tears threatening to spill. She missed her momma.

Picking up a pen nearby, she started scribbling in the scrawl of a hatchling that had never written before.

11/22/10- Dear momma, when are you coming home? We miss you so very much.

Daddy has grown all dark, and he hasn't left your room, not that I have seen, unless it is his turn for guard duty.

Gramma arrived not too very long ago, and Grampa too. Gramma is helping us watch my brothers and sisters, Grampa has been helping guard the lair.

I do not go out much anymore, and when I do, a silver guard comes with me.

Please do come home soon, we need you.

                             Love, your daughter, Moonlight.

The walls glowed lightly, lit by the soft glow of crystals embedded within as Drake had lead the pair on the tour, the little blue and yellow dragonling now not far behind.

The promise of snuggles and stories drawing her away from the mouth of the cavern, and the roar of the waterfall that served as another protective barrier.

Down the pathway to the inner chamber of the cavern, from here Scotty and Harold would see numberous tunnels, most having rooms upon each side with doors that might open or close.

She would follow them past the rock blocked chamber that housed the cold and warm pools, and another that housed the indoor pond where momma sometimes had tended to the fish.

"Snuggles would be nice." she had glanced toward her parents chamber, now silent, where her father most likely waited, she wouldn't disturb daddy.

She had been sitting near the lair's entrance again, when the sight of a cart brought blue eyes blinking. What was that?, and why? It was stopping nearby.

The little dragon watched as the cart was unloaded, fresh meat, a delivery, and behind it came not one person but two.

Looking back inside, daddy was deep within his chamber, a place she would not go, a glance to the guards, whispering something to the silver that stood just within ear's reach.

"You both may enter" the silver guard's green eyes on the pair. He moved aside to make enough room for Scotty and Harold to pass.

Trials of a Young Dragon / Re: Scarred: Restless Nights

Days turned to weeks, and weeks to almost a month, with still no word about her mother.

She was better, sometimes. Most of the times though the little blue and yellow dragon remained silent. Looking out of the lair.

Maybe one day they'd get lucky, but that day was not today.

A sigh as she turned from the entrance and the guards, moving further inside.

There she would help her brothers and sisters watch the younger.

Days turned to weeks, and the winds had started to blow colder. The little dragon was restless, night after night she tried to sleep. But sleep brought dreams.

Curling up beside her father, she had been helping him watch over the hatchlings. Even her father was quiet, and she saw the look in his eyes.

The look that said the hatchlings needed their mother. They needed her.

She needed her. Sleep still would not come, and she would push herself, moving back along the halls of the lair.

Moving to check upon the little ones, the children, then moving to the entrance, where she would sit.

Outside the guards remained, though she would not speak to them, she rarely spoke now, watching the roaring falls.

Wide blue eyes blinked up at daddy as she heard those words, soaking them up perhaps. Lucky for him, she couldn't speak yet.

Another giggle and she fell over onto her back, batting the tip of daddy's tail, little talons threatening to catch in his scales.

She didn't really know any better.

Toddling out of the nursery, creep, creeping along the wall of the lair, she was following a scent, the kitten sized blue hatchling was gonna find daddy!

Sneaky, sneaky, into her parents room, and wait!, daddy was sleeping!, that wasn't fair!

Wiggle, squirm of little haunches, and she lunged, giving daddy's tail a lovely tackle, giggling with glee.

Another egg, one of three left unhatched started to shake. Little cries from within might have been heard, the shaking stopped a moment, before starting up again.

After a few moments of struggles, the tip of a little blue snout pushed through the shell, little jaws taking in her first few gasps of air from outside.
