Sweet Crusades / Re: Sleepless Night
« on: August 30, 2018, 01:21:52 AM »
[size=11]Within the safety of the village, Orchid sat alone near the graveyard. So many lives lost to the war, and yet she was still standing. It bothered her because she knew she shouldn't have been. She stared passed the meager fence, which had been destroyed and rebuilt countless times, as well as most of the village. Her presence wasn't the only one, though. A certain reaper had followed suit, though Orchid had a feeling she wasn't paying her respects. Phoenix stepped up behind her, looking down before she sat suddenly by her side and stared out next to her. "You remember how after I brought you back.."

"...you died?" Orchid cut her off, glancing over and then away. "...yeah, I remember.."

Phoenix gave her a look, and then rolled her eyes. "Well, yeah… but do you remember how I came back?" she didn’t wait for an answer. "They did the same thing to bring me back, as they did for you.."

"It wasn’t the same," Orchid muttered, hugging her knees to her chest.
"Your soul got put in another body that didn’t have one," she corrected. "The other Orchid's life was stolen from her," she spat. "You can’t justify that...nobody can.."

"I mean...she kinda sucked, so..."

Orchid had tried to hold back her laughter, which only made her raspberry slightly and shake her head. "Look, I appreciate what you're trying to do, but...the only thing I got out of it was that...bringing me back, also got you killed.."

Phoenix leaned back on one of her hands and shook her head, "I'm not going to tell you how to feel, I'm just going to say this.." Silver eyes locked on Orchid’s, "You didn’t choose this, it got chosen for you. Just like I chose to bring you back. You owe it to your alternate, and everybody that mourned for you, to live your life. It's a second chance--"

"Third."

"Fine. Third. Whatever… The point is, whether you wanted it or not, you got it. Make the most of it."

"Why did you?" asked Orchid.

"Why did I what?"

"Why'd you bring me back?"

Phoenix looked at the tallest house in the village, one where Katan had surely been sleeping, with their two children tucked into their beds. "For him," she answered honestly. "It was for him," she admitted. She glanced over at Orchid, and shrugged a shoulder. "I'm glad I did, though. I know we had our differences, but… It was always hard not to...y'know..like you, or whatever…"

"You like me..." Orchid made a proud little face.

"Well, you're feeling better," she stood up. "I'm gonna go now," Phoenix muttered.

“Aw come on… No hug?” Orchid asked, holding her arms out as Phoenix walked away.

Blank Space
Original song by Taylor Swift. Never heard it before, but I found this cover by Tiffany Alvord online and it reminded me a lot of Phoenix's relationship with Katan using both their point of views.--

Nice to meet you, where you been?
I could show you incredible things.
Magic, madness, heaven, sin
Saw you there and I thought;
Oh my gosh, look at that face
You look like my next mistake

Love's a game; wanna play?

New money, suit and tie; I can read you like a magazine
Ain't it funny? Rumors fly. And I know you heard about me
So hey, let's be friends. I'm dying to see how this one ends.
Grab your passport and take my hand
I can make the bad guy good for a weekend.

So it's gonna be forever, or it's gonna go down in flames.
You can tell me when it's over; if the high was worth the pain.
Gotta long list of ex-lovers; they'll tell you I'm insane
'Cause you know I love the players; and you love the game
'Cause we're young and we're reckless; we'll take this way too far.
It'll leave you breathless, or with a nasty scar..
Gotta long list of ex-lovers; they'll tell you I'm insane
But I got a blank space, baby..and I'll write your name.

Cherry lips, crystal skies, I can show you incredible things
Stolen kisses, pretty lies; you're the king, baby; I'm your queen.
Find out what you want, be that girl for a month.
But the worst is yet to come.
Screaming, crying, perfect storms, I can make all the tables turn
Rose garden filled with thorns; I'll have you second guessing like;
"Oh my gosh, who is she?" I get drunk on jealousy.
But you'll come back, each time you leave
'Cause darling I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream.

Boys only want love if it's torture; don't say I didn't warn ya.
Boys only want love if it's torture; don't say I didn't warn ya.

This picture perfectly sums up the relationship between Phoenix and Katan.

Sweet Crusades / The Shadow Queen (Part 2)
« on: June 06, 2014, 08:39:13 PM »
Boots tapped against the damp stone of the cave, soft trickles of water dripping rang out in the thick, musty air, and the young hellion, unwelcome, was on the move. She walked into the forced night, soft pink tresses robbed of their beauty by the darkness. Crimson eyes darted around, thinned out and cutting through the shadowy domain. Voices ahead, accompanied the dirty dripping noise, one familiar, one an awful hiss. There was light flickering on the wall, dancing shadows. A fire?

The creature was the first one she saw, her eyes moving over the hooded beast as she tried to locate a face to no avail. She pressed her body to the wall and waited slowly. Next, her face went to the other figure, that looked like a standing zombie. Not since the day Phoenix had died, had she ever seen her eyes like that. The dead eyed princess stared ahead, barely breathing, barely moving, not blinking. Aviana's fists moved into tight balls, because she knew that work. That was Myles' specialty. So, it didn't take her long to put a name to the next face she saw.

There was something different about Myles, too. She had color to her eyes, emotion to her face, and she looked about as miserable as Phoenix wasn't allowed to feel. Suddenly, Aviana understood. Her face fell, and she pressed herself a little harder against the stone wall. A deep breath was taken, she gave herself a reassuring nod, before turning from the cover, she had to free Phoenix, and take this guy out.

A blast of pure energy shot from the pink haired princess, and tore apart rock and dirt as it made a path to the shadow monster. His cloak fluttered as he was taken off his feet and sent to the stone.

Sweet Crusades / Part one continued.

Myles looked at Phoenix's sleeping form, remorse showing in those soulful green eyes. That was the thing about gaining the very thing that was craved for years and years. It's not always what you'd expect. She surely hadn't been prepared for the fit of emotions, desires, and regret that flooded her. Sometimes she wished she could erase her own memory--but she didn't have that gift.

A soft groan left her lips, and she clenched her fists and turned to stare hard at the faceless figure. "You can't just...You're making me break a promise!" Immediately, her mind went to Emlen. But why? Of all the messed up things that she'd done--Emlen was her biggest regret. "...You said we were going after the kid... You said nothing about the girl..." Myles whispered weakly, and turned her eyes away. She knew that she couldn't manipulate him the way that she had everyone else. "We can't hurt her.." Remembering the conversation with Aviana, she knew Phoenix was one of the many that were off limits.

"My dear Myles," the whisper hissed out of its face sounding no less horrifying than nails on a chalk board. "Please do not forget that everything I've done for you, can and will be reversed. It will be best of you not to question me."

Myles winced lightly, and turned her eyes away. A soft sigh left her lips, and she felt her fists, once again going into tight, white knuckled balls. "What do you want me to do?"

"Do not worry, Myles... I do not want to see her harmed," it whispered almost softer this time. "I want her as my bride. You will make her love me," it whispered and pointed at the girl, the phoenix, who had looked so peaceful. Phoenix had forever beauty, no amount of violence would change that. It would be impossible to believe she had been knocked in the face just moments ago. Now, she was healed, and would be up rather quickly, so time was certainly not on their side.

"I can't do that... I have memory control, and mind control... I can't actually make someone feel emotions, it's not how it works." Myles said, and she didn't like this idea in the slightest. Out of all the strange things that came from having a soul--fear was the worst of them all. The silence that followed was more agonizing than ever for her.

After a few moments, that hissing shriek of a voice rang back out. "Then make her think she loves me. Wipe her mind, change her memories.. I want to be married to her by the end of the week... It is your job to make that happen."

Myles winced lightly and nodded her head. "Fine... I can do that..."

And she would.. The second Phoenix woke up, she'd grab hold of her mind. Then she would wipe it--but not before storing every single memory on the backup disk that was her own mind. Then she would do the deed. Make Phoenix think she had loved this...thing all her life. It would be especially painful given the fact that she had seen all of Phoenix's memories. She knew that the creature was undeserving--she knew Phoenix would be confused for the rest of her life. She also knew that she herself was in danger, and the second she accepted that soul, there was no going back.

Sweet Crusades / The Shadow Queen. (Part one.)
« on: May 31, 2014, 07:19:26 PM »
Addie peered up from the crib as the creature hovered over her tiny form. She chewed on her crib rail and made a few noises. The hooded statue of evil made no attempt to grab her. It simply stood there, in what could have been admiration of the small child. Silently, and slowly, it sat there with one covered hand resting over the other. A portal of shadows seemed to be open in the far side of the child's room. If Addie had the ability of the brain development, even she would have wondered what he'd been waiting on.

The child made a few squeaking noises as she tried to get his attention. Then, after moments of being stared at, she began to cry out. Tears, the forced kind, streamed down the baby's face as her tiny hands began to beat against the crib in the most frustrated of ways.

Myles, who sat off in the far corner of the room and ultimately remained unnoticed with her bright green eyes, shook her head . "Shut her up! Grab her and let's go before--"

A limb rose to silence her, and she lowered her eyes. Still, he had done nothing. It was beginning to look like he wanted everyone in the house to storm the room. She didn't understand... Didn't they come here for the baby? Myles flipped a lock of blonde hair from her face as she stood at the creeping shadows by the door. Was he blood thirsty? A soft sigh escaped her lips and she rested her hands upon her knees and simply sat there.

Moments later, the door opened gently. "Addie... Don't cry!"

Myles watched as that dainty, bare foot, sprung the trap. Shadows engulfed the woman, snaking around that feminine neck, holding her hands and legs in place. Jerks and bucks were deemed futile, as there wasn't yet a display of power that could get the woman out of this... Then Myles recognized her. She was the scary, loud one. The one that had come out of Martyr--the one that had broken Myles' hold. Her fragile little face became red as the shadows strangled the very life from her face.

The child began screaming her head off, "Maw mee!" The distorted name came out from the child's quivering lips, and Phoenix fought just a little harder. Her face began to chip and crack away as Phoenix found an alternate route to get out of the trap that had apparently been laid for her. Gasps and groans escaped her lips, and then a fist came. It punched her so hard, that blood had splattered against the floor, and it ceased her unorthodox methods of escape. Phoenix was limp, and had given into the shadows that bound her.

Shadow shackles that put Minoko's to shame,  stayed around her wrists but the rest dissipated, leaving Phoenix falling into the figure's arms. He began to head off to the portal. And Myles looked back at the kid. Apparently, giving her a soul made her as passionate as obedient. "...Really? We're just going to leave the kid? Come on... You made it seem like she was what we were here for..."

As Myles looked at the sobbing child, the portal began to close behind the figure who had disappeared into it. Myles bit into her lip and sighed, following after. "Sorry, kid..."

((Back dated, and sorry guys, I'm throwing this all into a single post out of sheer laziness.))

Emlen sat at the grave, his eyes trailed over all the trinkets left behind. He took in a breath and shook his head, "I don't do well with death... I never have. When you and Martyr were joined, I guess it was easier... That time Martyr went away, I guess it was easy to think, I still had some part of her.. You know? Then you had to split from her and become your own person.. Pop out a freaking kid, fall in love..." Emlen shook his head. "You always had to be so damned independent.. and on top of things." A handful of dirt was scooped up and sprinkled onto the grave. "I'm really bad at this... I wasn't going to come, but, I guess I have to face my fears sooner or later. Healing doesn't make us immortal. Nobody is immortal, and everyone has a weakness. Katan was yours." Stupid humans. "I get it, though... Wherever you are, Phoenix... I hope you're happy.. I mean that. We'll take good care of Addie."

"That... Was beautiful," said the tall princess that stood over, and behind his kneeling form. "Seriously, I couldn't have said it better myself. I mean, you could have cried... I'm just saying. That would have been nice...but, you know, I'll take what I can get."

Emlen froze for a moment, stared ahead, and then finally turned. Sure enough, there was Phoenix. Grinning down at him with sterling eyes and mocha hair. He should have felt joy, and he should have embraced her. All he felt was embarrassment, anger, and resentment towards her for perhaps making him feel negative emotions... So, instead of embracing his sister, he flew to his feet and punched her square in the jaw. "Idiot..." The boy mumbled and headed off towards his bike. How could she just let him spill his guts like that?

It was funny? Phoenix felt her teeth crunch together, and her body lose balance. She'd be lying if she said she didn't love every single second of it. She laughed out, "Oh come on! You were doing so well. Come back, do it again! I won't interrupt this time!" Phoenix said through layers of giggles and a snickering expression. She was soon greeted by Emlen's middle finger, and she smiled. "Missed you, too, Bro!" The girl said, and skipped back towards her house as Emlen sped off. "Yeah, he missed me."

Up on a hill, outside her property, a small grave was dug. The remains of what was left of her body swept up by our own Pilot. Marking the area, was a small headstone that read:

Delilah 'Phoenix' Black
Loving mother, sister, and friend.

((If your character has anything to do with Phoenix, feel free to post here!))

Dixie Chicks-- I'll take care of you.
Phoenix for Addie

Times Are Hard And Rents Are High
What Can A Working Girl Do
But Struggle Through Another Day
Then I'll Take Care Of You

Nights Are Long And Dreams Are Cold
If They're All You Wake Up To
But Should You Rise With Crying Eyes
Then I'll Take Care Of You

So Let Them Talk About Us
Let Them Call Us Funny Things
People Sometimes Do
Oh I Don't Care As Long
As You Know I Love You
Oh, And You Know I Do

I'll Be There, But You Might Not See Me
It's Never Easy To Get Through
But When The Laughter Dies Away
Then I'll Take Care Of You

So Let Them Talk About Us
Let Them Call Us Funny Things
People Sometimes Do
Oh I Don't Care As Long
As You Know I Love You
Oh, And You Know I Do

I'll Be There, But You Might Not See Me
It's Never Easy To Get Through
But When The Laughter Dies Away
Then I'll Take Care Of You

Fourteenth attempt...

Attempt: 1D20: 17 2D8: 4, 2
Roll total: 23
Damage to Phoe: 1D8: 5
HP: 51/125 Soul fragments remaining: --/425
Mission success.

With the soul at hand, Phoenix had Pilot come over and take care of Addison. She moved to retrieve the sedated body, and put the soul back where it belonged. Parting black eyes turned that perfect shade of blue. "Ph--..." Soon, they'd roll on shut and Phoenix would proceed on getting her cleaned up, dressed in one of Phoenix's old shirts, and set neatly into a box. Carrying it on over to Katan's place, she remained stealthy and sneaky, writing on the box: "To Katan." and slapping a big red bow on it. The knife was taken from her boot and she stabbed the container carefully. "That would have been bad... They...need to breath." Would be mumbled, before the wounded Phoenix stumbled away.

Complete. . .
